A GHOST HUNTER’S GUIDE TO CATCHING A KILLER – BOOK TWO IN THE ALMA TIMPERLEY MYSTERY SERIES
August 1915: Alma Timperley is fully settled in the bustling coastal town of Falmouth with her fiancé Alan. In her new role as owner of the extraordinary Timperley Spiritualist Hotel, Alma offers residents the chance to contact the dead – and since the start of the war, the hotel has never been busier.
But when a guest is found dead in their bed, talking to ghosts is suddenly the least of Alma’s worries. The police are quick to suspect foul play, which can only mean one thing: there is a killer lurking in the hotel’s shadows.
Time is of the essence, so Alma is recruited by the police to help with their investigation. Can she crack the case, before she finds herself in grave danger?
Reviews
Below are a few of the many Amazon reviews I have had for A Ghost Hunter's Guide to Catching a Killer
Another great read from Mr Petford and follows on successfully from the first book, I really enjoyed the story and the plot, looking forward to the next chapter.
Another great caper with Alma and the gang! Such warm well written characters you’re along for the ride with them following every twist and turn and trying to unravel the mystery. Loved getting to know the characters from the first instalment better but also some great new introductions for this book with a touch of humour thrown in. Cant wait for Feb 4th to join them all on their next adventure!
Alma Timperley owns and runs the Timperley Spiritualist Hotel in Falmouth. This quirky hotel is home to an eclectic mix of residents and guests. Set in 1915, the First World War provides the backdrop to events in and around the hotel. The historical details, for example the role of female hospital volunteers and the class hierarchy, make this a fascinating and engaging read. The characters are well developed with good dialogue and interesting interactions and plenty of intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to Alma and her growing network of close friends having more exciting exploits.
I loved this book, it was such a good story and it had me gripped right from the start. I loved all the twists and turns and I just couldn’t put it down. I loved all the wonderful characters and how unique they all were in their own way. This might have been the first book that I have read by this author but it definitely won’t be the last one that I read. I would highly recommend reading this book if you love a good mystery with twists and turns that will have you hooked from start to finish. That also has wonderful and unique characters. I would like to thank Hodder & Stoughton and NetGalley for this Advanced Readers Copy.
