his is a compelling read, and one which I thoroughly recommend. I am a fan of F H Petford for many reasons, not least because there is more than a nuance of reality as he takes the time to research, with the result that we are reading about times with actual historical facts included. Drama, intrigue, and the supernatural are all included in the mix, with the result that you just have to continue to the very end, uncertain as to what that end is actually going to be. This is light-hearted literature aimed at an audience who love a story. Excellent.
A rollicking good read. Had me gripped from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know a new raft of characters from Fred Petford finding themselves in a thought provoking situation in a well researched place. It was an enjoyable read with plot nuggets which kept me guessing right through to its satisfying ending. I’m looking forward to meeting these characters in their next instalment to be published next year.
This is a great story supernatural mystery meets spy drama set around Falmouth during the First World War. I loved that it was rather different than most crime fiction and interlaced with interesting Historical facts. The characters were warm and engaging, really well written and I am really looking forward to finding out what they get up to next!
Good plot - you cannot help but champion the main character.
